Suicide

Not much is spoken about the affect Domestic Violence and the breakdown of families has on men, women and even children leading to suicide.

This piece speaks to the conditions and affect of a broken home on men and women.

In Canada 8 men and 2 women commit suicide each day.  That’s about about 2,800 men and about 730 women each and every year.  Divorced men are 8 times as likely to commit suicide as a woman in the general public.

The breakdown of families, which is at or above 50%, means that every other family has varying stresses to cope with as the family tears apart.

Children suffer the most as they have no means to escape the harm that Domestic Violence and family breaking up has on them.   Professor Miles Groth has mentioned, men in particular seem withdrawn within the schools they attend, leading to academic shortcomings.
